in memoriam: johannes karman


on augustus 17, 2025 passed away at the age of 89:

since 2010 worked johannes with gallery 9.

since then his work has been included in the large group exhibitions in the gallery.

immediately in 2010 he showed his work in a duo exhibition in the gallery together with the sculpture stones of herman van der made.

in 2016 was in the gallery a duo exhibition together with anjeliek blaauw.

trio exhibitions where in de gallery in 2013 together with saskia van der made and frans vendel, in 2019 together with anjeliek blaauw and martijn duifhuizen and in 2022 together with gabriël barlag and gerard van de horst.

johannes was fascinated by natural light and he wanted to make us silenty aware of the daily light that we see and absorb without thinking about it.

he was a passionate artist and a very committed and loving person with a warm heart for his loved ones.

on february 22, 2025 passed away at the age of 83:

jan passed away in the vu-hospital in amsterdam (nl) as a result of a series of medical problems.

from 2019 jan worked jan with gallery 9.

his work has been included in the gallery every year since then in the large group exhibitions.

at the end of 2020 there was a large solo exhibition in the gallery with recent paintings by jan.

we were making plans for a new exhibition of his work this year in the gallery.

until last year jan worked as a teacher at the zondagsschilders where he started in 1988.

jan was an extremely capable and aimable artist and teacher
